AirAsia Introduces Direct Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan Bajo, Indonesia
AirAsia has launched direct flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Komodo International Airport (LBJ) in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. This marks the first time an international airline offers a direct connection to the island, famous for its native Komodo dragons. The first flight arrived in Labuan Bajo on September 3, 2024, kicking off the three-times-a-week service. This route offers over 4,000 seats per week. It is expected to boost tourism and benefit local economies in Indonesia and Malaysia. AirAsia stated that the new route is likely to bring more visitors to the region, positively impacting local businesses. With the Fly-Thru service, travelers from Asia and Australia can now reach Komodo National Park and Flores island with just one stop in Kuala Lumpur.
